LEARNING RESULTS

This course is the main introductory course in the concepts of health economics and health systems.

The aim of the course is students to understand the basic concepts of health economics, the types of organization of health services that govern them, as well as the methods of evaluation of health systems, health services and public health programs.

Upon successful completion of the course students are expected to:

  • have an in-depth understanding of the specificities of the market and health services and the main regulatory policies pursued at Greek and international level.
  •  be able to explain and present medical-financial data in a concise and comprehensive manner.
  • be able to comparatively evaluate the quality of a health system through epidemiological and socio-economic indicators and identify weaknesses and strengths.
  • understand the basic types of socio-economic evaluation of health programs and services.
  • be able to identify health organizations/ services as types of organization and consequently their weaknesses as well as methods of their improvement.

  •  The methods of socio-economic evaluation of health products and services

 

 

STUDENT EVALUATION

  • Written final exam (90%) that includes:

    • Multiple choice questions
    • Solving problems / cases

    Comparative evaluation of theory elements

    Computer work (10%)
