LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course provides an in-depth presentation of topics related to the effective provision of primary family health care and the protection of motherhood and infancy and childhood. Students’ education aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to participate equally in the interdisciplinary health team of primary health care structures. The course enables students to provide health care to the family (mother, parents, child) by emphasizing high-risk groups, supporting and empowering parents in their role in promoting family health.

 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • understand the family institution
  • understand the basic features of providing family care services in the context of primary health care
  • know the health services to the family, mother, child and adolescent as well as family planning services
  • use methodologies to assess family health needs, prioritize and plan appropriate interventions
  • operate independently and/or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals in the context of the provision of maternal and child health care services in primary health care facilities
  • provide counseling, health education and health care to the family, mother and child, either through home visits or by providing services to primary health care facilities

STUDENT EVALUATION

Written final examination (80%) which includes:

  • Development questions
  • Multiple choice questions
