Laggas Dimitrios

Dimitrios Laggas studied at the School of Medicine of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki . He is Pediatrician and Public Health and Social Medicine sector

He has a master’s degree in Public Health from the National School of Public Health and a PhD from the Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

He has been a Scientific Associate in the Child Health Sector at the National School of Public Health (1994-2019) and Director of Studies of the Public Health Postgraduate Program of the National School of Public Health (2011-2019)

In September 2019, he joined –under evaluation-the Department of Public and Community Health of the School of Public Health of the University of Western Attica as Associate Professor specializing in “Childhood Public Health – Public Health”.

Academic Experience:

He has extensive teaching experience both at the undergraduate level in the fields of Pediatrics, Social Hygiene , Global Public Health,the course Health and Disease and the Theory of First Aid, as well as at the postgraduate level in the Programs: Health Promotion in the Elderly and Environmental Communication and Health Promotion.

Administrative Experience:

He is Coordinator of the Courses of the Basic Scientific Fields of Public and Community Health, of the Department of Public and Community Health, Deputy Director of the Postgraduate Program “Health Promotion in the Elderly and Advisor of the Students with Special Needs

Research interests

His research work focuses on Social Pediatrics and Public Health of Childhood, Primary Prevention and Community Health. Indicatively, he participated as a researcher in the program: “System for the production of health map indicators” and as a coordinating researcher in the “National study of the vaccination status of children in Greece”

He is a member of the Hygiene and Epidemiology Laboratory and a founding member of the Digital Innovations in Public Health Laboratory of the Department of Public and Community Health

He is a founding member and Secretary General of the Hellenic Society of Public Health and Alternate member of the Board of the Hellenic Society of Public Health and Social Medicine
