Dr Agathi Stathopoulou has a PhD specializing in post-traumatic stress disorder in children and adolescents from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She has also obtained Master’s Degrees in Special Education and Counseling of Persons with Disabilities from the same university.

Since 2016, Dr Stathopoulou has been a permanent collaborator of Net Media Lab-Brain & Mind R&D, N.C.S.R. Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications “EKEFE DIMOKRITOS” in research projects and training programs. In this context, she served as a Special Scientific Technical Staff at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of EKEFE “DIMOKRITOS” for the academic year 2018-2019.

Dr Agathi Stathopoulou has been a Member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff in the Department of Public and Community Health at the School of Public Health (FEK 2115/15-9-21) since 2021. She works in the Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology and teaches subjects related to human resource development with a focus on Special Education in Master’s Degree Programs.

Dr Agathi Stathopoulou has extensive experience in education, particularly in promoting mental health and wellbeing in schools and social environments for people with Special Educational Needs. She has also served as an executive of Educational and Counseling Support Centers for many years. Dr Agathi Stathopoulou has participated in research and training programs of the Ministry of Education and research and training programs of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Dr Agathi Stathopoulou participated in the National Education Dialogue Group in the sub-committees for Special Social Groups and Initial Education and Training. Additionally, for over a decade, Dr Agathi Stathopoulou has served on special examination committees for candidates with disabilities and special educational needs at the National Examination Centers.

Her primary research interests are in the fields of education and mental health promotion for individuals with special educational needs, both in academic institutions and in social settings. Additionally, she has a keen interest in integrating information and communication technology (ICT) in educating individuals with special educational needs.

She has authored a book titled “Child and Trauma” and has published several articles in international journals available on Scopus and Google Scholar, which relate to her research interests.
