LEARNING OUTCOMES
The course offers students a thorough introduction to the Basic Principles of Prevention and Control of Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases, highlighting the superiority of prevention over treatment. An in-depth analysis of preventive measures, health behaviors and social determinants of health is carried out.
Upon successful completion of the course, the student:
- It will have clarified the Basic Principles of Prevention and Control of Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases.
- He will have an understanding of health and behavioral consequences.
- It will describe methods of early detection & monitoring of Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases and elimination of risk factors that affect mortality and morbidity in Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases.
- He/she will have the skill to seek scientifically based interventions aimed at promoting health, protecting Public Health and increasing the life expectancy of the population.

COURSE CONTENT
In the introductory section, the course includes lectures on the following topics:
- The superiority of prevention over cure
- Prevention levels
In the section on the basic principles of prevention of chronic diseases, the course includes lectures in the sub-sections
- the contribution of chronic diseases to overall mortality and morbidity
- demographic and socioeconomic differences in the incidence of chronic diseases
- what are the generally accepted risk factors in causing chronic diseases
- key causal mechanisms
In the Principles of Infectious Disease Prevention section, the course includes lectures on most key sub-sections:
- The nature of infectious agents
- The defense of the human organism
- Herd immunity
- Receptors and maintenance mechanisms of infectious agents
- Dynamics of human-infectious agent relationships
- Face-place-time characteristics in infectious diseases
