Postgraduate Program in Epidemiology and Health Promotion

The proposed MSc program, “Epidemiology and Health Promotion,” offered by the Department of Public and Community Health, is designed to cover a specialized scientific field at the forefront of innovation. This program combines two key thematic areas: epidemiology, which provides a robust scientific and methodological foundation for studying and interpreting individual subjects, and the application of the second thematic area, health promotion.

The integration of these two thematic areas within the field of scientific research focuses on identifying and exploring the determinants of health. It also emphasizes the use of causal knowledge to design, implement, and evaluate integrated, evidence-based, and methodologically sound interventions and programs for health protection, prevention, and health promotion, targeting individuals, families, and communities.

Upon successful completion of this MSc program, students will be equipped to:

  • Assess the health status of communities.
  • Define intervention priorities based on informed decision-making.
  • Utilize and apply continuously updated scientific information, considering that more than half of the articles published in major international journals are essentially epidemiological.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate integrated health prevention and health promotion programs in a rational and methodologically sound manner, ensuring their effectiveness and efficiency.”
