LEARNING RESULTS

The course aims to provide students with knowledge on anatomy of the female reproductive system, in diagnostic methods and operations applied in Gynecology and Obstetrics. Moreover, to provide knowledge on the physiology, etiology, diagnosis and treatment of the most common female reproductive system diseases.

Upon successful completion of the course the students will have consolidated knowledge to:

  • Provide counseling services on specific female health issues in the community setting
  • Promote procedures for the prevention of gynecological disorders, to distinguish from gynecological point of view high-risk cases and give directions and instructions towards the correct, scientific treatment

CORSE CONTENT

  • Anatomy of the female reproductive system
  • Physiology of the female reproductive system. Pubescence, menarche. Reproductive age, menopause, hormonal control of hypothalamus, hypophysis, ovary, ovarian cycle, endometrium, endocervix, vagina. Ovarian hormones. Ovulation control
  • Gynecological history (history taking-evaluation)
  • Gynecological examination (conditions-findings)
  • Diagnostic methods in gynecology (cytological analysis of cervical smears, cultures, biopsies, endoscopies, imaging methods, evaluation of findings)
  • Congenital abnormalities of the reproductive system
  • Menstrual disorders (description-diagnosis-treatment)
  • Ovarian disorders
  • Most common diseases of the reproductive system (causes-clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment) vulva, vagina, cervix and uterine body, fallopian tubes (malignancies) pelvic floor diseases
  • Breast diseases (malignancies, causes, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment)
  • Menopause-menopause (physiology, diagnosis, treatment)
  • Infertility (causes, investigation, treatment)
  • Prenatal examination, conception, childbirth, childbed

 

 

STUDENT EVALUATION

Written final exam (100%) that includes:

  • Open-ended Questions (Development Questions)
  • Multiple choice questions
  • Short answer questions
  • Problem Solving
