Postgraduate Program “Epidemiology and Health Promotion”
The Postgraduate program “Epidemiology and Health Promotion” is designed to teach students both established and innovative concepts in the two scientific fields of Epidemiology and Health Promotion. In this respect, the methodological approach to Epidemiology is integrated in the scientific domains of Public Health and Health Promotion.
This combined scientific and research approach focuses on identifying and further studying health determinants and risk factors. Successful preventive strategies rely on the effective design, implementation and subsequent evaluation of health promotion programs and community-based interventions, as well as the development of integrated public health policies.

Postgraduate Program “Environmental Communication and Health Promotion”
Purpose: The purpose of the master is to provide a high level of postgraduate education in the scientific field of Environmental Communication and Health Promotion by providing them with specific information and critical assessment skills on environmental issues that undoubtedly cause a variety of public health effects. These skills will enable them to participate in and lead decision-making processes, thus determining the quality of health and the environment for decades to come.

Scientific Reasons: The scientific subject of the Postgraduate Program covers the subject of Environmental Communication by introducing the concept of communication aimed at education on environmental health issues. Through the ecological model as a communication planning framework for public health, postgraduate students become familiar with the tools of health literacy assessment in research and practice with the ultimate goal of creating and implementing communication strategies to protect the environment as an integral part of promoting the health of the population.
Postgraduate Program “Health Promotion in Third Age”
Object – Purpose: The proposed Master Program (MSc) entitled “Health promotion in third age” provides specialized knowledge regarding the promotion of health, wellness, autonomy and dignity protection in the elderly as well as the planning and implementation of interventions for this purpose.
The purpose of this master program is the high level postgraduate education with the aim of providing students with knowledge about current developments and the interdisciplinary approach to the promotion of health of the elderly as well as the development of cross-sectoral policies and actions.
Skills: Graduates of this master will be trained in the design, development and implementation of actions that will help seniors to remain active and active citizens, to live with autonomy and dignity and to ensure their unhindered access to information for promotion and protection of their health.Upon successful completion of the postgraduate program the student will be able to design and develop policies that will contribute:-Supporting the elderly to remain autonomous and active.-In the promotion of health and disease prevention in old age.-In improving the quality of life of the elderly.

-Providing academic knowledge in the field of health promotion in old age and further development of students’ cognitive capital.
-Conducting research studies in the field and promoting the introduction of innovative epidemiological research programs.

Postgraduate Program “Environmental health and communication in general and special education and training”
The Postgraduate Studies Programme (MSc. ) entitled “Environmental health and communication in general and special education and training” of the Department of Public and Community Health of the School of Public Health of the University of West Attica aims to further promote scientific knowledge, the development of research and the high level specialization of graduates in theoretical and applied areas on issues related to both the promotion of responsible environmental behavior and health promotion of the participants.
The aim of the MSc is to provide high quality postgraduate education in the scientific field of Environmental Communication, Health Promotion and Special Education and Education, providing specific information and promoting critical evaluation skills on environmental issues and Special Education and Education. It is imperative that these skills are integrated and disseminated in order to promote the educational process in the school environment in both general and special education, and in the community at large. These skills will enable those concerned to participate and lead in the processes of implementing relevant educational – and not only – programmes for both the general population and people with disabilities, thus defining the quality of health and the environment in the coming decades.

Postgraduate Studies “ Health Promotion and Health Education”
The Postgraduate Program (MSc) “Health Promotion and Health Education”, which was established in 2004, is organized in collaboration with the Medical School and the Department of Psychology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Health promotion and health education are part of high-priority areas of action worldwide with the aim of protecting the health of citizens, improving all services and policies that determine health, reducing social inequalities and ultimately improving quality life of all population groups and communities.
The Postgraduate Program “Health Promotion and Health Education” is a member of the European Network EUMAHP (European Masters in Health Promotion) and the development of the objectives, structure and content of the Program were based on the principles of the Network collaborating European Universities. Since 2010 the Postgraduate Program participates in the European program “Developing Competencies and Professional Standards for Health Promotion Capacity Building in Europe/COMPHP”, which aims to develop an accreditation certification system for education and practice in Health Promotion in Europe (Pan-European Accreditation Framework for Health Promotion).
