LEARNING OUTCOME

The Bachelor’s thesis gives the student the opportunity to use the knowledge acquired during the studies.

At the same time, the student is offered the opportunity for further search in one of the issues that may be the subject of professional career in the future.

The ultimate goal of this process is to gain experience in how to investigate any Public Health problem that could arise in the exercise of his profession.

In particular, the elaboration of the Bachelor’s thesis has the following academic and professional objectives:

  • Acquisition of knowledge and skills on how to approach and investigate problems that will arise during the graduate professional career as well as realization that new and evidence-based knowledge is necessary to deal with any problem and to strengthen graduate’s capability of seeking and acquiring knowledge are key objectives of the elaboration of the dissertation.
  • Training in the search, description and analysis of Public Health problems and in the formulation of proposals.
  • Development of the ability to determine the Public Health Scientist’s role and involvement on the level of Public Health.
  • Development of skills in the critical review of the literature on a specific topic.
  • Development of collaboration among students (in case the dissertation is prepared by two students) and with professionals and institutions from which they will draw information about thesis preparation.
  • Education of the student in the formulation of scientific research question and in the writing of a study.

CORSE CONTENT

The dissertation can be:

  • Bibliographic/critical review of the literature on a specific topic: Prepared by a student
  • Combination of bibliographic and research search. It can be done by one or two students.

Thesis evaluation criteria

The points evaluated by the selection board are:

  • THESIS DESIGN: clarity with which the problem is formulated, selection and use of the appropriate methodology, methods of searching for data
  • MATERIAL ORGANIZATION: internal structure of the dissertation and relevance to the research question, the existence of a balance in the distribution between the sub-chapters, the coherence in the development of the subject
  • CORRECT FORMULATION OF THE CONCLUSION: presentation and critical analysis of the results and formulation of conclusions in relation to the research question
  • LANGUAGE: correct use of scientific terms-concepts, style, fluency and proficiency of the language
  • BIBLIOGRAPHY: correct use of the bibliography and correct citation of bibliographic references
  • APPEARANCE: appearance of the dissertation
  • COOPERATION: level of collaboration with the Supervisor
  • SUPPORT: oral defense of the dissertation

 

STUDENT EVALUATION

Evaluation in Greek language

For the evaluation of students, fullness of answer, clarity, the level of critical thinking of the student and language proficiency are taken into consideration.
