LEARNING OUTCOMES

The Communication in Public Health course seeks to clarify to students the ways in which an employee, an executive or a company or organization can communicate with the public, at an interpersonal or mass level, in order to achieve their professional goals.

The subject matter of the course aims to acquaint and familiarize students with human-social communication. It also seeks to teach students ways and techniques by which the executives of an organization communicate more effectively and solve problems in the context of the operation of an organization.

With the successful completion of the course students should:

  • know and understand the concepts of human-social and operational communication
  • distinguish the characteristics of the means of communication, as well as the criteria for their choice, and be able to assess which of them will be used by companies and employees according to the occasion
  • understand the importance of strategic thinking of communication for the success of an organisation and develop a strategic communication plan
  • distinguish the basic forms of communication and their characteristics (interpersonal-mass, direct-indirect, verbal-nonverbal, external-internal, formal-informal) and assess in which cases and in what ways they should be applied by a business or employee
  • understand how to deal with a communication crisis or various internal conflicts in an organisation and judge how to resolve them.

STUDENT EVALUATION

The evaluation language is Greek.

Written final examination (100%) in Greek which includes:

  • Analysis of roles and stakeholders in a short case study
  • Essay development questions
  • Comparative evaluation of theory elements
