LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to the acquisition of knowledge and skills on Good Health Practice, in Livestock Farms. The student understands the construction and functional characteristics of the farms as well as the rules of Hygiene in animal production and is familiarized with the implementation of quality assurance programs of animal production. The student is trained in the implementation of quality assurance program of Livestock. The student is also trained in the control methods of Livestock Farms as well as in the production control of animal products.

The theoretical and laboratory part of the course gives the student the necessary knowledge and skills in order to after graduation:

  • be capable to carry out a Health Inspection on animal farms and be able to monitor, record, check and assess the health status of a livestock unit;
  • be able to carry out quality control of animal products and be able to quantify and qualitatively assess animal production and propose measures to improve it;
  • be able to train the staff of a livestock unit in order to insure the animal product and the health and safety of the worker;
  • be able to participate equally in a HACCP group, that designs, organizes and implements the quality assurance system in animal production;

STUDENT EVALUATION

The evaluation language is Greek.

Theoretical part of course

  • Written final examination (80%) including Multiple Choice Test, Short Answer Questions, Judgement Questions. Students, upon receipt of exam questions, are informed on the evaluation of exam topics according to their difficulty. The assessment depends on the answer given, its clarity, the student’s critical thinking and language proficiency.
  • Writing and presentation of assignments (20%). Participation in the final evaluation, is notified to the student since the beginning of the semester.

Laboratory part of course

Written final examination (60%) including:

  • Multiple Choice Questions
  • Short Answer Questions,
  • Solving problems related to quantitative data in a short case study

Interim evaluations (40%)

  • Group Work Presentation
  • Problem solving: Role analysis and scope in a short case study

The participation in the final assessment, the final written exam and the intermediate assessments, are notified to the student since the beginning of the semester.
