LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course introduces the students to the concepts and fundamental principles of the workplace prevention and health promotion. The aim of the course is to cover the subject of prevention and health promotion in the workplace. This course aims to introduce students to the basic concepts of occupational epidemiology, prevention of occupational diseases and accidents at work and health promotion in the workplace. It also provides knowledge and skills and refers to concepts and principles of health and safety at work, detection and assessment of harmful factors and management of occupational hazards. Students acquire the necessary skills to plan, implement and evaluate comprehensive health promotion programs in the workplace.

After the successful completion of the course the students wil:

know the fundamental principles of prevention and health promotion in the work environment and the principles of safe work and accident prevention
assess and evaluate the employees’ health needs and provide health care in primary health care settings in the workplace
evaluate the work environment, understand the multiple effects it has on health and investigate occupational diseases
use appropriate methods to prevent accidents at work, investigate harmful factors, perform risk management and investigate occupational diseases
plan, organize, implement and evaluate integrated prevention and health promotion programs in the workplace

Health and safety in agriculture – husbandry-Fishing

Promoting health in the work environment in the light of an aging workforce
Emerging risks. Green jobs, nanomaterials, information and technology communication etc.
Occupational health and safety legislation
Organization and operation of the prevention and employees’ health promotion service
