Kesanopoulos Konstantinos

Konstantinos Kesanopoulos is a highly qualified Biologist with an MSc and PhD in Cell Biology and Physiology, specializing in Microbiology. He earned his degree from Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse, France, in 1998. In 2009, he successfully completed his PhD thesis in molecular epidemiology of infectious pathogens at the University of Ioannina Medical School. Demonstrating a dedication to Public Health, Konstantinos obtained a Master’s degree (MSc) in Public Health from the National School of Public Health  in 2011. This educational background solidified his commitment to the field, laying the foundation for his accomplished career in Public Health Biology.

Throughout his professional career spanning from 2001 to 2019, Konstantinos served as a biologist-scientist collaborator at the National Meningitis Reference Laboratory. He actively contributed to numerous National and European research projects, expanding his expertise in infectious diseases, molecular epidemiology, and the safeguarding of Public Health. In terms of research, he has served as a principal investigator or research team member in 20 publications published in peer-reviewed international journals. Additionally, Konstantinos has been an invited speaker at both international and national scientific conferences.

His active involvement in the diagnosis and epidemiological surveillance of bacterial meningitis is underscored by his role as the quality management responsible for the ISO 15189 certification of the National Meningitis Reference Laboratory.

Primary areas of research focus for Konstantinos encompass the intersection of biology with Public Health, specializing in molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases, examination of smoking behavior, and the design of Internet-based surveillance systems for utilization in health promotion initiatives.

Since 2011 he has been actively involved in the teaching of postgraduate programmes of the National School of Public Health, and since 2020 he has been actively involved in the teaching of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, in his capacity as a member of Laboratory Teaching Staff Member  at the Department of Public and Community Health of the School of Public Health of the University of West Attica.
