LEARNING OUTCOMES
The course provides knowledge and skills to teach students the subjects of Prevention and Health Promotion in the school setting, the school health services responsibilities, current legislation, the Health Promoting School and the European Network of Health Promoting Schools. The course aims to encourage students to acquire the ability to assess and evaluate the school environment and to record its effects on health, but also the different ways these affect health. Students will develop the competences to undertake interventions needed to promote and protect people’s health within the school setting, by planning, implementing and evaluating activities, for primary, secondary and tertiary prevention and health promotion.
The students will be able to:
- assess and evaluate health needs in school the environment
- set priorities
- plan, implement and evaluate integrated prevention and health promotion programs in school environment
- use new technologies and develop innovative health promotion activities
- conduct effective primary and secondary prevention interventions in the school environment aiming at early diagnosis
- work independently and/or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, in counseling and health education and all school members (students, teachers, staff, parents and guardians)
