LEARNING OUTCOMES

The purpose of the course is to acquire the necessary skills to be able to organize and compile a comprehensivewrittenwork risk assessment.

This is achieved through education:

  • in the methodology of qualitative and quantitative recording-drafting of work risk assessment
  • in the recognition of occupational diseases
  • in the correct use of limit values for measuring harmful labor factors
  • in the organization of measurements of harmful particles and gases in the workplace

After the end of the courses the students will be able to:

  • to organize and develop Health and Safety programs in the workplace.
  • to identify occupational diseases and link them to trigger factors.
  • to take measurements, toevaluate their results and take action.

 

GENERAL SKILLS 

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:

  • searches, analyzes, and composes data and information, with the use of the necessary technologies in the field of prevention and implementation of health and safety measures of workers from work risks
  • make decisions and respect diversity and multiculturalism through prudential checks
  • performs autonomous work through the implementation of Health controls, reports, and expertise
  • decides through the Provision of consulting services in matters of quality assurance, hygiene, and food safety of food businesses
  • plans and manages quality programs HACCP and ISO
  • promotes free, creative, and inductive thinking through Teaching at all levels of Education on Personal, Public and Social Hygiene and Environmental Hygiene.

  • OccupationalDiseases (definition, mechanisms of genesis)
  • Occupational cancers
  • Occupational skin diseases
  • Occupationaldiseases of the respiratory, urinary system
  • Occupationaldiseases of the cardiovascular, reproductive system
  • Occupationaldiseases of the nervous system – behavioral problems
  • Occupational liver diseases
  • Occupational hemolytic problems
  • Exposure to biological factors, emerging infectious diseases in the workplace
  • Work Health & Safety Applications by type of professional and industrial activity

Laboratory Part of the Course

The laboratory part of the course will include:

  • Methodology for organizing work risk assessment
  • Methodology for organizing quantitative factor work risk assessment
  • Use of certifiedchecklistformachine safety, hand tools, lifting weights
  • Plan of prevention in material storage (structures Logistics)
  • Exposure risk analysis to chemical agents
  • Exposure –usemeasurement limit values (PD 90/99)
  • Labeling of chemical agents – Analysis of label andmaterial safety data sheet Μ.S.D.S
  • Utilization-handling of toxicity data, ecotoxicity, biodegradability of chemicals
  • Measurements of particles, gases of workenvironment
  • Organize theHygieneandsafetysystemin work office
  • Investigation of Sick Building Syndrome
  • Presentation and review of studies risk-assessment from student group
  • Use of the interactive program ΟiRa for work risk assessment

 

STUDENT EVALUATION 

The evaluation is in Greeklanguage.

Theoretical part of the lesson

The evaluation of the theoretical part is done with a written examination at the end of the semester, which includes short development questions and multiple-choice questions.

For successful completion of the theoretical part the examination grade should be at least five (5.0)

Laboratory part of the lesson

Written final exam (60%) which includes:

  • Multiple-choice questions
  • Short development questions
  • Solve problems related to quantitative data in a short case study

Interim evaluations (40%)

  • Presentation of team project
  • Problem solving: Role analysis and scope in a brief case study
