LEARNING OUTCOMES

The purpose of the course is to present the philosophy and principles of community health, prevention and health promotion in the community and for students to acquire the necessary resources to carry out scientific work in the context of prevention and health promotion in the community. The course provides students with the theoretical background and skills necessary to develop action aimed at protecting and promoting the health of the individual, family and community. The course focuses on the methodology of health needs assessment and the design, development, implementation and evaluation of integrated prevention and health promotion programs in the community (both general population programs and programs focused on vulnerable and high-risk groups of the population). Factors influencing population health are discussed and analyzed, and the various prevention and health promotion strategies in the community are examined

The field exercise is implemented in various health structures in Greece or abroad. The field exercise gives students the opportunity to act as scientists in various health structures in the context of the interdisciplinary team in order to apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired in real conditions in the context of health services by contributing to the assessment of health needs and the planning, implementation and evaluation of integrated community health promotion programs.
